John Hight
John Hight is President of Wizards of the Coast and Digital Gaming at Hasbro, Inc., where he leads the company’s portfolio of gaming studios and digital publishing initiatives. He is responsible for the strategic growth and global expansion of Hasbro’s flagship gaming brands, including Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons, across tabletop and digital platforms. He also oversees the development of original and licensed video games based on Hasbro’s broader brand portfolio.
Since joining Hasbro, Hight has driven key efforts to accelerate digital transformation, expand community engagement, and grow the studio pipeline. He established a dedicated digital publishing team, signed an exclusive development deal with independent studio Giant Skull, and oversaw the launch of Magic: The Gathering – Final Fantasy, the brand’s best-selling set.
Before Hasbro, Hight spent over a decade at Blizzard Entertainment as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Warcraft franchise. He oversaw all development and commercial operations for World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, and Warcraft Rumble, and led development on multiple World of Warcraft expansions, Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, and the console version of Diablo III.
Earlier in his career, Hight contributed to more than 30 published titles across a variety of platforms and genres. At Sony Computer Entertainment of America, he helped launch the PlayStation Network and led the internal development team at Santa Monica Studio, overseeing God of War 3. He also held senior roles at Electronic Arts and Atari, contributing to the Command & Conquer and Neverwinter Nights franchises.
A 30-year veteran of the video game industry, Hight has also served as an adjunct professor at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, where he taught game development and production. He is the lead author of Game Development Essentials: Game Project Management, blending industry expertise with practical instruction.
Hight holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, from the University of New Mexico and an MBA from the University of Southern California.
